Design Your Approach
In Phase 2, your implementation team moves from insight to intention. Over four focused steps, you'll explore strategies, learn from schools already doing this work, map a realistic strategy arc, and build a concrete action plan for Year 1. This phase is led by school and district leadership who will shepherd the work forward into implementation.
This 4-step phase includes ~4 planning team meetings and school visits.
Phase 2 · Step 1
Team meetingExplore Strategies
Gather your implementation team for a working meeting — you have a vision, and now you'll explore together how other schools have brought visions like yours to life, building shared understanding of what's possible for your students.
How to use this step
Your Phase 1 work told you what your community needs. This step helps your team explore how other schools have tackled similar priorities — and spark a conversation about what you might want to try.
You're not selecting strategies yet. You're getting inspired. Browse the categories most connected to your SRG Vision and pay attention to what sparks a reaction — excitement, curiosity, even skepticism. That's all useful.
Run this step as your team's Strategy Exploration Meeting — the facilitator guide below walks you through it.
Before you explore: Pull up your SRG Vision and your Phase 1 Priority Statements. As you browse, ask yourself: Does this connect to what we want for our students? Does it address something we've never tried — or always wanted to do differently?
You don't need to review all six categories — focus on the ones most connected to your priorities.
A note on the steps ahead
These four steps are designed in a specific order, and they build on the SRG Vision your team already wrote in Phase 1. Exploring strategies comes first — before you map your Strategy Arc or select specific strategies — so your team has shared vocabulary and real-world examples to draw on. Your vision drives which strategies you choose, not the other way around.
You may already have a strategy in mind. That's fine. Hold it loosely for now — Step 4 is where you'll make those decisions, and your vision will help you make them well.
Before moving on
Which 1–2 categories felt most connected to your priorities? What questions came up for your team? Jot those down — they'll help you decide which strategies to prioritize as you move through this phase.
